Crushers are used on hard plastics, mainly polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). They convert plastic granules and plastic flakes into powder with a size of up to 100 μm. The pulverizers guarantee the final size of the material and can be operated manually or automatically.
The crusher can process all types of hard pellets, from PE and PVC material, to flakes and granules, due to the high friction metal discs. These machines are mainly used at the end of the plastic waste processing line where the material has been separated, washed and shredded. The size of the materials that will be fed to the pulverizer should not be larger than 8mm in order to maintain the final quality product. In case of film type pulverization the material should initially be made more compact.
Their productivity depends on the power, the size of the discs and the type of polymer. Meteco Tech machines offer for PE plastics productivity from 150 to 400 kg/h while for PVC plastics it ranges from 400 to 1200 kg/h. In any case, the power does not exceed 90 Kw. The main advantage of the pulverizers is their easy maintenance, where only one person is required, as well as the low energy consumption.
The general rule is that plastics are heat sensitive materials, which means they can deform or melt during pulverization. Usually, PE and PVC materials do not require a cooling system, but in cases of different plastics, liquid nitrogen is added to facilitate the process.
The size of the final product is always the desired one because the vibrating sieve that adjusts the size brings back the larger pieces so that the pulverization process can be repeated.
