The program, which officially launched on August 24, 2020 with a total budget of 100 million euros, concerns the subsidy of electric vehicles. According to the latest data, the “I Drive Electric” program has reached a turnover of 40 million euros.

How long will the program be open?

Payment of applications will certainly be possible until the end of 2020, but according to the latest updates, it is likely to be extended beyond 2021.

Who is eligible for the subsidy?

According to kinoumeilektrika.gov.gr, beneficiaries will be both natural and legal persons, as well as TAXI owners. Families with many children and people with disabilities will also be entitled to an additional subsidy.

It is important to emphasize that the €500 subsidy for the purchase of a “smart” home charger is only available to natural persons.

What are the incentives and bonuses for each category of beneficiaries?

The beneficiary’s incentives and benefits depend on various parameters such as

  • whether the application is made by a natural person, legal person or TAXI owner
  • the retail price before taxes of the electric vehicle
  • the type of vehicle (electric bicycle, motorcycle, car, etc.)

What vehicles are most popular?

The majority of applications concern electric bicycles, followed by bicycles and tricycles, while below are applications for subsidizing the purchase of electric passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and taxis.

What is the application process?

After logging in with your taxis.net credentials, register by filling in your details, following the steps below:

  • fill in your details
  • select the vehicle category, model and value
  • select if you want a home charger (individuals only)
  • select if you wish to withdraw
  • choose if you are a parent with many children or a person with disabilities
  • attach the necessary supporting documents
  • submit the application
