Specifically, 60% is used in electrical applications due to its high electrical conductivity, 20% in building applications for roofing and piping, 15% in industrial equipment and machinery, and finally 5% in the form of brass and bronze alloys.
Improving recycling rates
Increasing recycling rates is a very factorial issue. Initially, it has to do with educating and informing the public about recycling, which must be integrated into people’s everyday lives. Furthermore, it should be taken into account from the initial stages of the production of a good, that is, even from the design stage. Finally, a legislative and rewarding framework should be established to improve the rate of copper recovery for recycling.
