The owners of the 436,653 uninsured vehicles, who, based on the latest check carried out by the tax administration, were found not to have insurance, will receive a message in their electronic mailbox on taxisnet, as well as in their e-mail.
However, the announcement of the Independent Authority of Public Revenue (AADE) mentions possible uninsured vehicles, which means that some vehicle owners may be unnecessarily inconvenienced. As of today, Tuesday, May 8, 2018, owners of uninsured vehicles can proceed with their insurance, having previously paid the value of the fee provided for by the provisions.
It is noted that depending on the engine capacity of the vehicle, the corresponding fine will be paid.
The amounts provided for by the provisions are the following:
- 100 euros for two-wheeled vehicles up to 250 cc.
- 150 euros for two-wheeled vehicles from 251 cc and above.
- 200 euros for cars up to 1,000 cc.
- 250 euros for cars from 1,001 cc and above.
Error correction
In cases where the car or motorcycle is wrongfully included in the list of uninsured, interested parties should follow the following procedure on a case-by-case basis:
- If he was insured on the date of the cross-check, they should contact the insurance company with which he is insured in order for the necessary actions to be taken on its behalf.
- If you never owned it or its registration number has changed or it has been deleted or it was stationary on the date of the crossing, you should contact the tax office responsible for your taxation, providing the necessary supporting documents (certificate of immobility or history of changes to the specific vehicle from the competent Regional Transport Service, to which its registration permit was issued, etc.).
- If there is an error in the registration certificate information or the vehicle no longer belongs to you, you should contact the Regional Transport Authority.
- If a request to transfer the vehicle to a KEP was submitted and the new registration license has not yet been issued, you must contact any Tax Office, providing a relevant certificate from the KEP for the submission of the transfer request, in order to have the fee canceled.
- If there is an exception to mandatory insurance, you must contact any Tax Office, providing the relevant supporting documents, in order to have the fee canceled.
- In case you acquired the vehicle up to 7 working days before the crossing, you should contact any Tax Office in order to have the fee canceled.
- In the event that you are the heir of a vehicle of which the deceased had full and exclusive ownership and he died within 6 months prior to the crossing, no toll will be issued for the vehicle in question.
