Aluminium recycling is part of the aluminium industry, which in Europe is worth €40 billion and directly or indirectly employs more than 1 million people. Aluminum recycling rates in Europe

Europe already has the highest per capita aluminium recycling rates. More than 50% of the aluminium produced in the European Union comes from recycled aluminium. The aluminium used by the automotive industry is among the most recycled. This is followed by aluminium from structural applications, while aluminium from beer and soft drink cans is third in terms of recycling. We find different recycling techniques, adapted to the different forms of recyclable aluminium, e.g. one for unpainted and thick aluminium, another for aluminium foil, another for painted aluminium, etc.
