Fines for Uninsured Motorists

Twice a year, data checks will be carried out to identify uninsured vehicles. Those found to be in violation will have fifteen days to take out an insurance policy, but will also pay a fine of 250 euros. Those who ignore the notice will be taken to task by the police, who will proceed to revoke their registration and will also impose fines that are more than double the amount.

Notice board

Vehicle owners who receive the notice must proceed with the civil liability insurance for the circulation of their vehicle, by presenting to the insurance company the electronic fee in favor of the Greek State of 250 euros and optionally the notice letter. The owner who is not required to insure his vehicle for any legal reason, will address the competent services (Tax Office, Ministry of Infrastructure, Insurance Company, Police) in order to be exempted from the fine imposed on him and by extension to have the records corrected.
